Credentials · licensing · verification

Our credentials, and how to check every one of them yourself.

In the diamond trade, claims are cheap and paper is everything. This page lists each credential the works operates under, the identifier behind it, and the independent route to verify it: the regulator, the registry, the grading lab, or the public record. None of it requires taking our word for anything.

The verification ledger

Legal entity
D and D Diamonds CC, a South African Closed Corporation, registration 2002/018001/23, founded 2002 by Darren Lance Etkind, trading as Procut DCW.
Verify: company registrations are searchable on the CIPC public register (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission).
Beneficiation licence
SA Beneficiation Licence under the Diamonds Act 56 of 1986, SADPMR reference AP5057/3, current cycle valid through 2029. It is what makes it lawful for this works to take possession of rough and polish it in Bedfordview, and it obliges us to keep auditable records of every parcel.
Verify: the South African Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator issues these licences and maintains the licensee record; the regulator can confirm a licence on request.
De Beers DBCM EBC status
Emerging Beneficiation Customer since 2019, De Beers Consolidated Mines' channel for South African beneficiators. Documentary basis: the signed DBCM EBC term sheet, current.
Verify: the programme is described in De Beers Group's own beneficiation case study; DBCM counterparties can confirm customer standing through their own channels.
The Sightholder connection
Co-director Molefi Letsiki runs Molefi Letsiki Diamonds, the first majority-black-owned De Beers Sightholder in South African history (December 2022). That company is separate from D and D Diamonds CC; the two share a director, not a licence.
Verify: the De Beers Global Sightholder Sales customer directory lists Molefi Letsiki Diamonds; the appointment was carried by Mining Weekly and the trade press. Full record: the Sightholder partnership.
Kimberley Process
All rough is acquired through DBCM viewings and licensed South African channels, inside the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme that governs rough movements in and out of SA.
Verify: the scheme is documented at kimberleyprocess.com; in South Africa its administration sits with the SADPMR, the same regulator that audits our parcel records.
Trade footprint
Listed in the Jewellers Network directory as D & D Diamonds CC t/a Procut DCW. Founder Darren Etkind has served on the executive of the Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa (Rapaport, which also records Letsiki's chairmanship).
Premises
Suite F1W6B, The Paragon, 1 Kramer Road, Bedfordview 2007, Gauteng.
Verify: The Paragon on Google Maps. Viewings strictly by trade appointment.

Verify the stone, not just the works

Credentials tell you who cut the diamond. The certificate tells you what the diamond is. Every commercial-grade stone we sell passes off on its independent GIA report, and a GIA report is verifiable by anyone: enter the report number at GIA Report Check and read the original grading record directly from the lab. We cut to GIA Excellent, and the report is how you hold us to it.

What we are not

  • Not a De Beers Sightholder. We are an Emerging Beneficiation Customer. The Sightholder in our directorial circle is Molefi Letsiki Diamonds, a separate company.
  • Not a lab-grown supplier. We do not cut, polish, stock or trade lab-grown, synthetic, CVD or HPHT-treated stones. Natural only.
  • Not a retail shop. The works is trade-only. Consumers buying a finished stone or piece are served by our retail sister brand Prodiam.
